Before your boudoir session

  • DO make time for a pre-session consultation, away from email and/or social media. The guidelines are something you will definitely want to follow in order to get the most from your session and unleash your inner "goddess".

  • DO consider a theme or type of session you want - blackout or white sheet? Outdoors or athletic? Plan your outfits around the theme, and discuss these with your photographer at your pre-session consultation.

  • DO consider your monthly cycle when scheduling your session, especially if you are prone to bloating and water retention.

  • DO drink plenty of water in the week before your session.

  • DO use lotion/moisturizer for at least a week before your session.

  • DO bring clothing, lingerie or other items that you are comfortable wearing and that fit you well. If you are uncomfortable in your outfit, it will show through to your photos. Wear something that you FEEL sexy wearing.

  • DO be creative! Accessories, costumes, masks, sports, uniform items can be used in your session! If your session is for your "significant other", feel free to bring items that might be special to them, such as a hunting hat or dog tags.

  • DO wear loose clothing to your session to minimize any clothing/strap marks.

  • DO wear clear deodorant on the day of your session.

  • DO bring appropriate high heels and thong (multiple string underwear seems to work best) if you want the heel/thong booty shot.

  • DO eat something before your session. Remember that you will be bending and posing in various ways, so keep your meal light.

  • DO come for your session with clean DRY hair and a clean face,, if your session includes hair and makeup.  If not, come with your makeup and hair done, with your makeup bag just in case you need a touchup.

  • DON'T bring chunky heels - anything under 3" to 4". Don't worry! You won't have to walk in them, but higher heels make your legs look longer - and makes your butt look fantastic!!

  • DON'T experiment with new hair color, etc... before your session. Touch-ups on hair color and facials should be done about a week before your session.

  • DON'T shave or wax for at least 3 to 4 days before your session. This will minimize any razor or wax burn on your skin.

  • DON'T bring your Mom, bestie or your baby to your session. They will be distracting and will take away from your experience. Significant Others are also a "no-no", unless they are being photographed also.

  • DON'T get too excited with patterns, dark/bright colors. Outfits should accentuate your features, not distract from them.

  • DON"T use fake tanning products. If you must tan, don't do it for at least 5 to 7 days before your session. Also, try to avoid any tan lines. Due to the risk of spray or self tanning solutions "bleeding" onto fabrics, the use of spray tans (booth or professional), may cause you to forfeit the use of certain sets. Also, please note that spray tans and self tanner do not photograph well in most cases.

  • DON'T stress out about the "what ifs" of your session. If you have any specific questions, let us know. We will be happy to address these for you.

DOs and DON'Ts for a spectacular session!
